What is the Bragg Creek and Area Wellness Committee
The Bragg Creek and Area Wellness Committee began in the spring of 2014 as a partnership between social service providers, local organizations and residents to enhance the social wellbeing of residents in the Bragg Creek area. Their mission statement is: “Supporting the Social Wellness of Bragg Creek and surrounding area”. The committee meets once per month in either Bragg Creek or Redwood Meadows.
- Created a Bragg Creek Area Resource List of service providers that was mailed to all households in Bragg Creek and Redwood Meadows
- Run an emergency preparedness expo in partnership with the Bragg Creek Community Association
- Hosted an information booth at Bragg Creek days at which the Red Cross handed out over 100 emergency preparedness kits
- Completed a door to door campaign in the hamlet of Bragg Creek, with the intention of assessing the needs of, and providing resource information to, anyone who requires and wants it in the wake of the 2013 flood.
Door to Door Campaign Report
This door to door report release event happened on March 25th 2015 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at the Bragg Creek Community Centre. The campaign was conducted in the fall of 2014 in the hamlet of Bragg Creek.
The purpose of the campaign was to connect directly with residents and convey a message that we care about their wellbeing both now and in the future. We also asked residents questions about their perceptions on community health and wellness needs, how they obtain community information, and the different services they may have accessed post-flood. This campaign’s great success was due to a collaborated effort with the Canadian Red Cross, Alberta Health Services, Western Rocky View Family and Community Resource Centre, Rocky View County ,Cochrane FCSS and Calgary Rural Primary Care Network.
